We invite every student to seek the services of the counseling staff concerning school and personal matters. In order to schedule a visit with a counselor, students should come to the Counseling Center before school, at lunch, and after school to schedule appointments. The counseling staff is available to provide educational, vocational and personal counseling services to students. In addition, it maintains a comprehensive library of college and career information. Information about a variety of four-year colleges, universities, community colleges, military service, trade schools and scholarships are available in the counseling center libraries. So please come in and take advantage of all we have to offer. We also invite parents to contact the counseling center with your questions and concerns.

We are happy to be able to offer tutoring for students who would like to take advantage of the extra help. Whether you need help with your classes or with preparing for the AIMS test, please come in after school beginning at 3:30 p.m. Just check in with Mrs. Lomeli in the library the first time you attend a tutoring session. Attend any of the sessions you want to and come as often as you like.

General tutoring to help you with your homework is held Monday - Thursday in the library.

AIMS tutoring sessions are held as follows:

Math Sessions:  Tuesday in R302
Wednesday and Thursday in R201

Writing Sessions:  Monday and Thursday in A203

The ACT and SAT college entrance examinations are the two most frequently used college admissions tests. The Arizona universities accept both tests. We recommend that most students take one or both tests in the spring of the student's junior year. Test date schedules are in the table at the top of this page. Please click on the links below for more information regarding each of these exams.

ACT - American College Test
The test covers four skill areas: English, mathematics, reading, and science. It requires approximately four hours to complete. The Writing Test, which is optional, measures skill in planning and writing a short essay.

SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test
The test is divided into three parts: Critical Reading, mathematics, and a writing component. It requires approximately four hours to complete. Please be aware that ASVAB or the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is also available at school for students to take if they choose.
